To make the most of your day trip, avoid the concession areas in the park, which can eat up valuable time. Instead, pack snacks for your hike and consider stopping for dinner on your way home in Groveland, Oakdale, or Jamestown – towns that offer excellent dining options.
Keep in mind that bears in Yosemite are known for their ability to sniff out food, so it’s best to keep any snacks in your backpack while hiking and avoid leaving anything in your car.
Finally, don’t forget the $35 entrance fee per vehicle, which is valid for seven days. If you’re visiting on a weekend, be sure to make an online reservation in advance, as they are required through late October.
