The Pinecone Treehouse, suspended high in the branches of California Redwoods, provides guests with a 360-degree view of the forest canopy.
The treehouse, which sits 35 feet above the ground on its uphill side and nearly 60 feet on the downhill side, features triangle-shaped see-through floor panels that create the illusion of floating in the forest. Access to the treehouse is via a 30-foot alternating step ladder at a 60-degree angle, leading to a trap door entrance.
Designed for two guests, the single-room structure aims to provide a space for relaxation and reconnection with nature. The treehouse is equipped with bedding and additional blankets for chilly nights.
A separate ground-level mini treehouse structure houses the bathroom facilities, including a hot shower, composting toilet, and sink. Guests must use a catwalk bridge to access these amenities from the main treehouse.
The owners recommend that visitors bring warm clothing and use backpacks rather than large suitcases due to the steep access. They also advise that the unique bathroom setup and access may not be suitable for all guests.
Bookings for the Pinecone Treehouse are typically available for Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and select Sundays, with dates opening up three months in advance. The minimum stay is two nights.
Located in Bonny Doon, the treehouse is approximately 15 minutes from downtown Santa Cruz, offering a blend of forest seclusion and proximity to urban amenities.
